Paul Van Hoeydonck played a significant role within the post-war avant-garde in Antwerp and beyond. From the late 1950s onwards, his work reflects the fascination with the ‘space race' that gripped the world at the time. In works such as Embedded Cities, he sought to evoke the cosmos on a human scale. The movement and gaze of the viewer continually reveal new perspectives on a hidden, underlying world.
