From 1985 onwards René Daniëls paints in a more abstract way, but without letting go of the figurative entirely. Daniëls first uses the butterfly tie motif when designing the poster for the Holland Festival. Later, the tie changes into a space with a strong perspective, two side walls and a back wall.
