Breathing Mountain, 2016

The image Breathing Mountain, which is also based on a Polaroid, depicts a geological phenomenon where holes in karstic mountain walls regularly expel air. The overall effect being of the stone landform being a breathing entity. The image of an inanimate part of nature respiring, provided Matyn with the starting point for the exhibition, considering how humans relate to nature, and how they have projected human characteristics onto natural forms in order to consider ones place in the universe.
