Marc Schepers (1952) studied library science and has been working as a self-taught visual artist since 1979. Together with Luc Tuymans and Leen Derks, he was one of the initiators of the Morguen projects on living folk art in the early 1980s. Schepers is co-founder of Ruimte Morguen, an artists’ gallery and platform where, since 1982, a network of artists has been reflecting on visual art from a social and critical perspective. He himself has been exhibiting at home and abroad for thirty years and combines his artistic practice with interventions in the social housing estate on Antwerp’s Linkeroever [Left Bank].
